Simone Biles is the most decorated gymnast in history, but she can still hide her identity when she needs to.
Last week, a flight attendant mistook a 25-year-old for a toddler during a trip. Biles posted about the humorous experience on Instagram, stating that a flight attendant had given her a coloring book to keep her busy throughout the flight.
The gymnast, who is only 4 feet 8 inches tall, shared a photo of herself on Instagram looking unimpressed and commented, “not the flight attendant trying to hand me me a coloring book when I board…..I said ‘no I’m good I’m 25.’ “
Biles is absolutely household name though, between her four Olympic and 19 World Championship gold medals. And earlier this month, she added to her medal case when she got the 2022 Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Joe Biden.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Biles was recognized for her efforts to improve “[athletes’] mental health and safety, children in the foster care system, and victims of sexual assault,” as stated by the White House.
Her future husband, Jonathan Owens, was there to share in the jubilation of this momentous occasion.
“You’re one of the strongest people I know and are so deserving, I’m so blessed to be able to experience this with you. You motivate me more everyday to be the best version of myself. Such a inspiration, I love you so much babe,” Owens, 26, wrote on Instagram.
On the day after Valentine’s Day in February, the pair took to Instagram to share the news that they were engaged.
Biles captioned the moment by saying “THE EASIEST YES,”she then displayed a gallery of photos, which started with a candid of Owens, 26, kneeling down on one knee. “I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married FIANCÉ 💍🥺🥲
Planning for the wedding is “doing very good” at the moment, Biles exclusively made It known. There are so many wonderful locations for a wedding that it’s hard to know where to start. This decision has caused me a great deal of worry in the last week.
She told her Instagram followers in May that the wedding will take place sometime in 2023. Biles posted a photo of her with Owens on the beach, “One step closer to becoming Mrs. Owens.”
They decided on a location and date for the ceremony in 2023, and she announced it in May on Instagram. Biles posted a photo of her with Owens on the beach, “One step closer to becoming Mrs. Owens.”
A snapshot that Biles posted to Instagram of the two of them together in August of 2020 marked their public introduction as a pair. With the caption “It’s just us,” she shared a portfolio of adorable photos featuring herself and Owens in various states of happiness and closeness.
The two had met in March 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 epidemic, and the announcement came just a few months later.
According to Owens’ account “it was one of the rare moments in Simone’s life where everything was just shut off and she couldn’t do anything” when the two first started dating. “As a result, we were able to utilize this time to intimately familiarize ourselves with one another. Our connection was born and strengthened by this shared experience. I’ve learned to be really grateful for this experience.”
