The appropriate response is “congratulations!” As the “Mother of Black Hollywood,” Jenifer Lewis, has finally been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

According to The Shade Room, on Friday there was a special event honoring the renowned actress, singer, author, and activist for the significant impact she made on the entertainment business.

Several of her close friends were there to celebrate the momentous occasion with her, including actress and director Debbie Allen, composer Marc Shaiman, singer and actress Brandy, and actress and comedian Roz Ryan.

In her acceptance speech, Jenifer stood on the podium at the unveiling ceremony and conveyed her appreciation to the many people who had commented that the recognition was long overdue.

For all the years of love and support, “I WANT TO THANK THOSE OF WHO YOU PUT THOSE COMMENTS ON THE INTERNET, FOR LOVING AND SUPPORTING ME THROUGHOUT THE YEARS,” LEWIS SAID. “BUT WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW IS I JUST WASN’T READY BECAUSE I HAD NOT DONE THE REAL WORK. THE REAL WORK WAS OFF-STAGE AND OFF CAMERA.”

To elaborate, she said, “When I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, somehow I found the strength and the courage to say three of the most powerful words in the English language.” While getting emotional, she went on, “I need help.” She encouraged people to get her book, Walking in My Joy: In These Streets, to learn more about her journey to healing.

While Shaiman and Allen proudly recounted anecdotes about the newest honoree, Lewis sat quietly, smiling, and laughing. Longtime acquaintances in both New York and Los Angeles attest to Lewis’s ability to spark romance and win hearts everywhere she goes.

Tony and Grammy winner SHAIMAN said in his speech, “JENNIFER CAN DO TOO MUCH.” “SHE IS A DRAMATIC ACTRESS, BUT ONE WITH IMPECCABLE COMEDY TIMING. SHE CAN SING WITH FIERY PASSION, BUT CAN TELL A STORY THAT HAVE YOU DOUBLED OVER IN LAUGHTER THE NEXT SECOND.”

Six-time Emmy winner and 2020 Kennedy Center Honoree Allen deftly characterized Lewis’ star quality, saying that she “emanates vitality, light, and mystery.”

“JENNIFER IS OUT REACH FOR MOST PEOPLE BECAUSE SHE IS MOVING LIKE THE UNIVERSE WITH A SWIFTNESS,” ALLEN CONTINUED. “THINGS HAPPEN IN THEIR OWN TIME AND THINGS HAPPEN THEY’RE SUPPOSED TO BE. AND THIS MOMENT RIGHT NOW IS A GREAT MOMENT FOR ALL US TO SHARE WITH JENIFER THAT SHE IS JOINING THE RANKS AND HER NAME LEAVES AN INDELIBLE MARK FOR TIME, GENERATIONS.”

Lewis’ address included a performance by Brandy and Roz Ryan, who sang a harmony version of Lewis’s signature catchphrase “In These Streets” with the “Dig A Little Deeper” singer. Lewis also sang “Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That” by Sweet Brown on Hollywood Boulevard.

Kanye West apologizes for George Floyd comments, saying Adidas’s ordeal humbled him.

After claiming that George Floyd’s death was the result of fentanyl rather than police brutality in Minneapolis, Kanye West has apologized to Floyd’s family.

As reported by Consequence, West apologized for the remarks while mobbed by paparazzi on Friday (October 28).

West expressed his discomfort, saying, ““When I see that video as a Black person, it hurts my feelings, and I know that police do attack [sic] and that America is generally racist. And I understand that when we got to say Black Lives Matter, the idea of it made us feel good together as a people. Now, afterwards there was some things where the money went in order to push us to the Democratic vote.”

Finally, West admitted that he feels bad about creating conspiracy theories surrounding Floyd’s murder because adidas severed their commercial ties with him.

Accordingly, “So when I questioned the death of George Floyd, it hurt my people,” he continued. “I want to apologize. Because God has showed me by what adidas is doing, by what the media is doing, I know what it feels to have a knee on my neck right now.

“So thank you God for humbling me and letting me know how it really felt. Because how could the richest Black men ever be humbled other than to be made to not be a billionaire in front of everyone off a comment.”

They sued him for $250 million on behalf of his daughter, who is the sole heir to Floyd’s fortune, after he made some contentious comments.

The rapper also doubled down on his anti-Semitic language during Friday’s impromptu news conference, adding, “the amount of Jews killed in Nazi Germany paled in compared to the number of Black people killed by abortion.”

His recent anti-Semitic comments have apparently cost him his coveted billionaire status, and as a result, several companies have severed connections with West. Among them is Adidas.

After a week of criticism, West returned to social media and released a text message from his lawyer, Quinn Emanuel, in which he was informed of his legal options with respect to adidas and Gap, from whom he had parted ways in September.

As for Adidas, the message said, “You may now begin creating new designs for footwear, clothes, and accessories.” The end date of your non-compete with Gap is December15, 2022. The Yeezy brand and its associated trademarks are your own.

Forbes estimates that his fortune has dropped from $1.9 billion to $400 million.

Will Smith claims that Floyd Mayweather checked in with him daily for ten days after he smacked Chris Rock at the Oscars to see how he was doing.

During a private showing of his new film “Emancipation” at The London hotel, Smith revealed… , and he seized the opportunity to thank TBE for being there for him in the presence of Floyd, even if at the time they weren’t exactly great friends.

On camera, Smith remarked, “I want to say something also about Floyd.” The footage was later shared on TMZ Sports. “So, we’ve met each other, we’ve seen each other around, but we weren’t like, friends.”

“And, the day after the Oscars, for 10 days he called me every day, And, he was like, ‘Ay, you know you the champ, right? You good? You know you the champ, right? I want you to hear my voice say it,'”

“That was every day he called me … and it’s like, that’s my dude forever right there.”

In light of Smith’s reluctance to discuss the slapping event since his only public statement on the matter came in the form of an apologetic video in July, hearing him describe the days immediately following the incident is very rare.

Mayweather, for his part, thought the movie was great.

A pivotal moment in history is beautifully depicted in “Emancipation. Floyd says, “I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.”

“Watching Emancipation film last night — the picture was nothing short of wonderful! The film hit so many elements of me as a black guy in America… Will Smith is outstanding!! Every frame was Art!!!!!,” Deon exclaims.
