The lawsuit against Ricky Martin has been thrown out by a court.
Our sources has learned that Martin’s nephew, who had accused the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer of sexual molestation, requested the case against him be dismissed in a Puerto Rican court on Thursday and was granted his request.
Martins Attorney said; “Just as we had anticipated, the temporary protection order was not extended by the Court. The accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter,” the statement read. “The request came from the accuser asking to dismiss the case.”
In response to that, he added: “Nothing more than a disturbed person fabricating bogus accusations with no evidence to back them up. That our client was able to continue on with his life and profession after seeing justice served is something we are grateful for.”
Law 54, commonly known as the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act, issued Martin a restraining order on July 1, which he refused.
According to Ricky Martin’s legal team, the claims that led to the protective order were “totally untrue and contrived”. Our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated when the facts of this case emerge,” says the law firm representing him.
The petitioner’s identity was unclear at the time because of the nature of the case. Soon after the news emerged, Martin took to Twitter to express his thoughts.
“The protection order entered against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the judicial process with the facts and dignity that characterize me,” the star posted at the time. “Because it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make detailed statements at this time. I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity, and I receive them with all my heart.”
However, the singer’s brother Eric Martin recently revealed to Spanish media site Marca that the petitioner is Ricky’s nephew. According to the allegations, the relationship between Martin and his nephew was a romantic one, and he might face up to 50 years in prison for it.
“Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew,” Marty Singer, attorney for the Puerto Rican singer, said in a statement.
He went on, saying “The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
According to court records filed on June 29 with the Los Angeles Central District Court, his ex-manager Rebecca Drucker has sued the singer for more than $3 million in unpaid commissions.
“With Rebecca by his side, Martin made millions of dollars and therefore owes Rebecca substantial commissions,” Drucker was accused in a 15-page complaint of helping Martin through “recording contracts, touring and sponsorship deals, and other professional endeavor,” adding, “With Rebecca by his side, Martin made substantial commissions.”
On the Drucker case, Martin’s representative refused to comment.
