In Atlanta, Grammy-winning musician Lil Baby has teamed up with local entrepreneur Lemont Bradley to create jobs for the city’s underage population.

This gesture, according to CBS News, is aimed at preventing crime. Since the emergence of the pandemic, Atlanta has seen a dramatic increase in crime. The consequent inflation problem has worsened the metropolitan area’s economic situation.

In an effort to combat crime, Lil Baby and businessman Lemont Bradley teamed up to provide work possibilities. Aside from Auto Spa Bistro and Clutch Restaurant, Lemont also owns three more businesses.

Bartenders, servers, chefs, and dishwashing staff are in high demand for themed nights at restaurants every night of the week.

“With the crime rate surrounding scams, robbery, and even murder being so high, we are looking to provide a positive outlet and revenue stream to those who are looking for an income,” Baby and Bradly said jointly in a statement.

A lawn care company will be launched by Baby and Bradley in the fall.

In an interview with the media, the men said, “We are so excited about this initiative,” the men told news outlet. “Of course, we are looking forward to helping boost the city’s economy, but we are really focused on lowering the city’s crime rate.”

Violent violence in Atlanta has increased significantly over the previous few years. More than half of America’s 50 most populous cities, including Atlanta, have seen homicide rates climb by an average of 37 percent in the past five years.

To mark the opening of their new headquarters in the nation’s capital, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) will honor such figures as Grandmaster Flash, MC Lyte, Representative Hakeem Jeffries, and Universal Music Group general counsel Jeffrey Harleston.

“I don’t think there has ever been a time in music history when the influence of hip-hop has been more evident…. Streaming is the biggest revenue generator for the industry, and hip-hop accounts for a huge percentage of those streams,” said RIAA chairman/CEO Mitch Glazier to Billboard. In light of Hip-Hop’s dominance, Glazier feels “now is exactly the right time to look back” to celebrate rap’s pioneers.

“It’s an honor to be recognized, but also to be in great company with artists that have touched millions of fans as I have in my career. We artists do this to touch our fans, and the RIAA makes sure it’s counted,” shared Grandmaster Flash.

According to Glazier, MC Lyte “was a pioneer in the art of singles and collaborations and made sure that cooperation in the hip-hop community was the key aspect of the art going forward.” Besides being an MC, he said, “She has also expanded into all facets of hip-hop, including fashion, acting, art, and other parts of the culture.”

She added, “It is an amazing honor to receive such an acknowledgment from the RIAA. They’ve watched my maturation from adolescence into adulthood and witnessed every musical release. I’m excited and inspired to do more, and thank you to the RIAA for recognizing me and the body of work I’ve created with an amazing and talented group of music makers.”

After being postponed for two years, the RIAA Honors are finally happening on September 14 at the RIAA’s brand new offices in the East End of Washington, D.C., at 1700 F Street NW. In addition to working with the National Recording Registry on content for the RIAA Honors, they have collaborated with the National Museum of African American Music to develop content for the NMAAMM’s podcast, The State of Black Music. Its forefathers will also be interviewed on video for the Library of Congress.

As a result of his confrontation with and public condemnation of police officers who had bodyslammed a Black female delivery woman during her arrest for an alleged traffic violation in Yonkers, New York, rapper Styles P has won the hearts of many city dwellers.

Styles P, 47, real name David R. Styles, was near Yonkers police as they arrested an Uber driver, who happened to be Black female. The two White police officers reportedly body-slammed the unidentified woman before they could place her in handcuffs, at which point Styles P arrived on the scene.

A female companion of Styles P started filming and warned the police that their acts were being broadcast across the world. While the arrest was being made, Styles P leaned in close and raged at the police.

“Yo! He’s a b—-,” the rapper told the officers. “Yo, sista, loosen up,” he told the woman being detained, in an attempt to de-escalate the situation for her.

“You’s a f—— hoe,” Styles told one of the officers. “You a whole b—-.” One of the officers then stood up and began to approach Styles and ordered him to fall back.

“I’mma back up. Don’t touch me,” Styles shouted back while raising his hands to prove that he had no weapon on him.

When a cop stood up to walk Styles P back, he continued to yell obscenities at them.

“You scared, too!” Styles said. “You slammed a girl for no reason, she’s on the floor! And you standing over there with your hand on your gun the whole time… You a b— … You had your hand on your gun for a female he slammed on the floor! Whole b—-! You scared… you not from around here … and you scared of Black people!”
