The reason of James Caan’s death has been established.
According to a death certificate acquired by TMZ, the actor died earlier this month of heart difficulties.
According to the document, Caan died of a heart attack and coronary artery disease at the age of 82.
COPD (chronic obstructive lung disease) and congestive heart failure also plagued the Godfather star.
Caan died on July 6 at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles at 9:02 p.m. local time, according to his death certificate.
Caan’s death was first revealed on Twitter by the actor’s official account. Statement: “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6,” the statement read.
“The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time,” the tweet added.
Caan’s four sons, Scott, James, Jacob, and Alexander, as well as his daughter, Tara, are now his surviving family members after his death.
With a career spanning more than six decades in film and television, actor James Caan has played iconic roles in films like The Godfather (1972), Misery (1990), and Elf (2001). (2003).

Caan has received four Golden Globe nominations, as well as nominations from both the Academy Awards and the Emmy Awards, among his many other honors. A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was bestowed upon him in 1978, as well.
Fast Charlie, a 2023 release, will mark Caan’s final film role, the website IMDb reports. Morena Baccarin and Pierce Brosnan feature in the action-crime-thriller, which is currently in post-production.
Previously, Caan married Dee Jay Mattis from 1961 to 1966, then Sheila Ryan in 1976.
Ingrid Hajek, whom he eventually married in 1990, was the love of his life. He married Linda Stokes in 1995 after their divorce was finalized.
In 2005, the actor sought a legal separation from Stokes, but they later reunited. It was reported in December 2016 that Caan and Stokes were going through a divorce.
