A new single from Nicki Minaj, “Freaky Girl,” will be released on June 29th, and on it, the rapper pledges to emulate the late Rick James, the father of funk.
“Nick James” era, which appears to be inspired by the “Mary Jane” vocalist’s stage name, among other considerations, was announced by the Queen lyricist on Friday (July 22) in a lengthy tweet to her 25.5 million Twitter followers, which she explained in the lengthy message.
“#NickJames is coming to do what the girls SHOULD’VE done,” she began the tweet. “#NickJames is coming to show the girls why they should’ve just sat there & ate their foods. #NickJames is coming to show the boys how to REALLY gag the girls. Pauz #NickJames is coming to restore hope in mankind.”
On August 12, Nicki Minaj will release her highly anticipated “Freaky Girl” single, which she teased on Instagram earlier this month with a revealing thirst trap video. She announced the next edition of Queen Radio in a separate tweet.
It was August 11th for Nicki and August 12th for Freaky Girl in a tweet emblazoned with the latter hashtag.
Before she released her 2014 single “Anaconda,” Nicki Minaj said she wanted to tone down the profanity in her music after becoming a mother. It now looks that Nicki Minaj is preparing a sexually explicit release, akin to “Anaconda,” which she released the same year.
Niki Says; “My label wanted me to go full out with a single and everything when I was pregnant, and I couldn’t bring myself to put out a song about pussy and dicks and sucking and eating. I couldn’t bring myself to put a record out like that while my son was growing in my body!”
Added the following: “Nothing wrong with anybody who’s able to do it, but with me, I just felt in a very different, new space.”
Although her new song may not have a specific subject matter in mind when it comes time for her to unleash it on the Barbz (her faithful legion of followers), she recently revealed that Drake (her former Young Money labelmate) is working in an executive producer capacity on her next project.
Nicki Minaj’s “Freaky Girl” will join the slew of tracks she’s released this year, including “Do We Have a Problem?” and “Bussin,” as well as collaborations with others.
