Following the theft of almost $1 million in jewelry during a live-streamed church service, the Brooklyn, New York, bishop was sued for allegedly taking $90,000 from a congregant.

Claims have been made about Bishop Lamor Whitehead’s criminal past, including time in prison for identity theft and stealing.

Whitehead was accused of luring Pauline Anderson into a $90,000 payment in November 2020 with the promise that he would buy and remodel a house for her.

As her only source of income, the lawsuit claims that Anderson Whitehead agreed to pay her $100 a month. Only one payment was given to her, and when she inquired about the state of her property, he claimed that his election campaign was the only thing on his mind at the time.

As a result of the funds, Whitehead was able to put down a down payment on a $4.4 million property. Whitehead unintentionally sent Anderson’s son an email regarding the house purchase, and Anderson learned about it from her son.

As a result of this conversation, Anderson informed him that he had no duty to repay the money.

In the claim, Anderson is demanding damages of $1 million for Whitehead’s  “morally reprehensible acts” and “losing her whole life savings.”
