Earn Your Leisure, the largest financial literacy podcast held its second annual Invest Fest at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. More than 12,000 people attended this year’s festival to take part in the many workshops, panels, and other events that explored topics like real estate, entrepreneurship, investment, and personal finance. Dan T. Cathy (Chairman of Chick-fil-A), Donahue Peebles (Billionaire Real Estate Entrepreneur), T.I., Dame Dash, Terrence J, DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and many more were among the speakers.

This year’s Invest Fest and its accompanying programs were produced in collaboration with Steve Harvey and Harvey Ventures, who served as strategic partners and co-producers.

Steve Harvey has stated “I am proud to partner with Earn Your Leisure, which was founded by two young and dynamic Black entrepreneurs, to take this year’s Invest Fest to the next level,” said Steve Harvey.

He went on “There is an urgent need for more expansive financial literacy to promote saving, investing, and generational wealth creation for traditionally underserved communities. Rashad and Troy have responded with an incredibly innovative and visionary platform to make this information open and accessible to all.”

The festival’s high point came when billionaire writer/director Tyler Perry appeared onstage with Earn Your Leisure hosts Troy Millings and Rashad Bilal to impart life lessons and useful advice he’d picked up along the road. Steve Harvey came out on stage with the boys right after Tyler Perry’s fireside chat to offer his congratulations and pay tribute to Mr. Perry.

“We created Earn Your Leisure and now Invest Fest to marry culture and commerce. We know that information and resources about financial literacy, investing, entrepreneurship and building generational wealth have traditionally been inaccessible for our culture,” said Rashad Bilal, Troy Millings, founders, Earn Your Leisure. Sponsored by Chase, Vibranium, BET and META, Invest Fest included a vendor marketplace with over 250 small businesses as well as live podcast stages with interviews from top entrepreneurs and celebrities.

The event started off with a VIP kick off party that featured fireside discussions with Terrence J, Kenny Burns, and others, followed by T-high-energy Pain’s set and a surprise appearance by multi-platinum selling singer/songwriter Queen Naija.

In a fireside discussion chaired by Matthew Garland, billionaires Dan T. Cathy, chairman of Chick-fil-A, and R. Donahue Peebles discussed a variety of topics. Insightful advice on entrepreneurship and business ownership was shared by such notables as ET the Hip Hop Preacher, Dame Dash, and Pinky Cole (founder/owner of Slutty Vegan). Hip hop legend Rick Ross closed the festival with a spectacular performance.

Kanye West apologizes for George Floyd comments, saying Adidas’s ordeal humbled him.

After claiming that George Floyd’s death was the result of fentanyl rather than police brutality in Minneapolis, Kanye West has apologized to Floyd’s family.

As reported by Consequence, West apologized for the remarks while mobbed by paparazzi on Friday (October 28).

West expressed his discomfort, saying, ““When I see that video as a Black person, it hurts my feelings, and I know that police do attack [sic] and that America is generally racist. And I understand that when we got to say Black Lives Matter, the idea of it made us feel good together as a people. Now, afterwards there was some things where the money went in order to push us to the Democratic vote.”

Finally, West admitted that he feels bad about creating conspiracy theories surrounding Floyd’s murder because adidas severed their commercial ties with him.

Accordingly, “So when I questioned the death of George Floyd, it hurt my people,” he continued. “I want to apologize. Because God has showed me by what adidas is doing, by what the media is doing, I know what it feels to have a knee on my neck right now.

“So thank you God for humbling me and letting me know how it really felt. Because how could the richest Black men ever be humbled other than to be made to not be a billionaire in front of everyone off a comment.”

They sued him for $250 million on behalf of his daughter, who is the sole heir to Floyd’s fortune, after he made some contentious comments.

The rapper also doubled down on his anti-Semitic language during Friday’s impromptu news conference, adding, “the amount of Jews killed in Nazi Germany paled in compared to the number of Black people killed by abortion.”

His recent anti-Semitic comments have apparently cost him his coveted billionaire status, and as a result, several companies have severed connections with West. Among them is Adidas.

After a week of criticism, West returned to social media and released a text message from his lawyer, Quinn Emanuel, in which he was informed of his legal options with respect to adidas and Gap, from whom he had parted ways in September.

As for Adidas, the message said, “You may now begin creating new designs for footwear, clothes, and accessories.” The end date of your non-compete with Gap is December15, 2022. The Yeezy brand and its associated trademarks are your own.

Forbes estimates that his fortune has dropped from $1.9 billion to $400 million.

Will Smith claims that Floyd Mayweather checked in with him daily for ten days after he smacked Chris Rock at the Oscars to see how he was doing.

During a private showing of his new film “Emancipation” at The London hotel, Smith revealed… , and he seized the opportunity to thank TBE for being there for him in the presence of Floyd, even if at the time they weren’t exactly great friends.

On camera, Smith remarked, “I want to say something also about Floyd.” The footage was later shared on TMZ Sports. “So, we’ve met each other, we’ve seen each other around, but we weren’t like, friends.”

“And, the day after the Oscars, for 10 days he called me every day, And, he was like, ‘Ay, you know you the champ, right? You good? You know you the champ, right? I want you to hear my voice say it,'”

“That was every day he called me … and it’s like, that’s my dude forever right there.”

In light of Smith’s reluctance to discuss the slapping event since his only public statement on the matter came in the form of an apologetic video in July, hearing him describe the days immediately following the incident is very rare.

Mayweather, for his part, thought the movie was great.

A pivotal moment in history is beautifully depicted in “Emancipation. Floyd says, “I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.”

“Watching Emancipation film last night — the picture was nothing short of wonderful! The film hit so many elements of me as a black guy in America… Will Smith is outstanding!! Every frame was Art!!!!!,” Deon exclaims.
