On Saturday, Mayor Jim Kenney of Philadelphia presented two-time Grammy winner Jazmine Sullivan with the Liberty Bell (Aug. 3). Sheila Hess, the city’s official representative, and others presented the gift to the Philadelphia native at the 2022 Made in America Festival.

Philadelphia’s iconic Liberty Bell is a treasured emblem of American independence and one of the city’s most prized possessions. Designed and crafted in London in 1752, the bell was eventually transported to the Pennsylvania State House. People who have best exemplified the ideals of Philadelphian pride are the ones that get the Liberty Bell statue. Patti Labelle, Michael B. Jordan, Mary J. Blige, Adam Sandler, and Sylvester Stallone are just a few of the famous people who have received the award in the past.

It’s odd that Sullivan was given the prize on the same day that the RIAA certified her album Heaux Tales as Gold, as the latter was the recipient of a Grammy. Her tracks “Girl Like Me” and “On It” are both certified Gold by the RIAA, joining her Platinum single “Pick Up Your Feelings.” Theola Borden, vice president of brand and communications management at RCA Records, gave a plaque to Sullivan.

After a six-year break, Jazmine Sullivan returned with another No. 1 album on the Top R&B Albums list with Heaux Tales, as reported by Billboard. There were nearly 43,000 ‘album’ equivalents sold for this initiative. BET, the NAACP, Soul Train, and the Grammys were just a few of the honors she took home with her fourth studio album.

Sullivan’s first studio album, 2008’s Fearless, has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America after peaking at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Hits like “Need U Bad,” “Lions, Tigers, and Bears,” and “Bust Your Windows” were featured on it.

Just below, you can listen to Sullivan’s hit “Pick Up Your Feelings” from his Heaux Tales album again.

Kanye West apologizes for George Floyd comments, saying Adidas’s ordeal humbled him.

After claiming that George Floyd’s death was the result of fentanyl rather than police brutality in Minneapolis, Kanye West has apologized to Floyd’s family.

As reported by Consequence, West apologized for the remarks while mobbed by paparazzi on Friday (October 28).

West expressed his discomfort, saying, ““When I see that video as a Black person, it hurts my feelings, and I know that police do attack [sic] and that America is generally racist. And I understand that when we got to say Black Lives Matter, the idea of it made us feel good together as a people. Now, afterwards there was some things where the money went in order to push us to the Democratic vote.”

Finally, West admitted that he feels bad about creating conspiracy theories surrounding Floyd’s murder because adidas severed their commercial ties with him.

Accordingly, “So when I questioned the death of George Floyd, it hurt my people,” he continued. “I want to apologize. Because God has showed me by what adidas is doing, by what the media is doing, I know what it feels to have a knee on my neck right now.

“So thank you God for humbling me and letting me know how it really felt. Because how could the richest Black men ever be humbled other than to be made to not be a billionaire in front of everyone off a comment.”

They sued him for $250 million on behalf of his daughter, who is the sole heir to Floyd’s fortune, after he made some contentious comments.

The rapper also doubled down on his anti-Semitic language during Friday’s impromptu news conference, adding, “the amount of Jews killed in Nazi Germany paled in compared to the number of Black people killed by abortion.”

His recent anti-Semitic comments have apparently cost him his coveted billionaire status, and as a result, several companies have severed connections with West. Among them is Adidas.

After a week of criticism, West returned to social media and released a text message from his lawyer, Quinn Emanuel, in which he was informed of his legal options with respect to adidas and Gap, from whom he had parted ways in September.

As for Adidas, the message said, “You may now begin creating new designs for footwear, clothes, and accessories.” The end date of your non-compete with Gap is December15, 2022. The Yeezy brand and its associated trademarks are your own.

Forbes estimates that his fortune has dropped from $1.9 billion to $400 million.

Will Smith claims that Floyd Mayweather checked in with him daily for ten days after he smacked Chris Rock at the Oscars to see how he was doing.

During a private showing of his new film “Emancipation” at The London hotel, Smith revealed… , and he seized the opportunity to thank TBE for being there for him in the presence of Floyd, even if at the time they weren’t exactly great friends.

On camera, Smith remarked, “I want to say something also about Floyd.” The footage was later shared on TMZ Sports. “So, we’ve met each other, we’ve seen each other around, but we weren’t like, friends.”

“And, the day after the Oscars, for 10 days he called me every day, And, he was like, ‘Ay, you know you the champ, right? You good? You know you the champ, right? I want you to hear my voice say it,'”

“That was every day he called me … and it’s like, that’s my dude forever right there.”

In light of Smith’s reluctance to discuss the slapping event since his only public statement on the matter came in the form of an apologetic video in July, hearing him describe the days immediately following the incident is very rare.

Mayweather, for his part, thought the movie was great.

A pivotal moment in history is beautifully depicted in “Emancipation. Floyd says, “I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.”

“Watching Emancipation film last night — the picture was nothing short of wonderful! The film hit so many elements of me as a black guy in America… Will Smith is outstanding!! Every frame was Art!!!!!,” Deon exclaims.
