NEW YORK, NY — On the occasion of what would have been the 50th birthday of The Notorious B.I.G., the late rap icon is posthumously reclaiming his place on the throne of New York City with a plethora of tributes taking place across his birthplace on Saturday (May 21).

In memory of the late Bad Boy MC, the world-famous Empire State Building in Manhattan will be illuminated in red and white on the day of the memorial service, and an illuminated crown will revolve around the building’s mast to serve as a constant reminder of his reputation as “King of New York.”

On the giant oculus display that sits above the entrance to the Barclays Center in Biggie’s home borough of Brooklyn, a video montage of some of the rapper’s most iconic songs will be shown.

In the meantime, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is planning to issue a limited-edition MetroCard that will feature an image of Biggie. These cards will be sold at three subway stations located in close proximity to Biggie’s former home in Bedford-Stuyvesant: Lafayette Avenue, Clinton – Washington Avenue, and Atlantic Avenue – Barclays Center.

At a ceremony that will take place at the Empire State Building the day before Biggie would have turned 50, several members of his family, including his mother Voletta and his children CJ and T’yanna Wallace, as well as close friends, including Lil Kim and Lil Cease, and other Hip Hop luminaries connected to his career will be in attendance.

In addition, Amazon Music and their catalog music brand, [RE]DISCOVER, will take over the Clinton – Washington Ave. station with artwork that is based on the iconic portrait of Biggie Smalls wearing the “King of New York” crown. Fans will have the opportunity to gain access to a unique Instagram filter commemorating his life and legacy by scanning a QR code that will be located at the station.

The festivities commemorating Notorious B.I.G.’s 50th birthday will continue the following month, on June 10, at the Lincoln Center, with a one-of-a-kind concert paying tribute to him with an orchestra. At the formal affair, which will require visitors to wear black tie attire, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson will arrange and direct the music, while The Originals and a number of other notable guests will make appearances. The performance will be webcast live and made available to the general public without charge exclusively through Amazon Music.

The 25th anniversary super deluxe box set of Biggie’s album Life After Death will also be released on June 10. This set includes eight vinyl LPs as well as a commemorative booklet that contains rare photos from the Life After Death cover shoot as well as words from those who were involved in the making of the album.

On March 9, 1997, the young Notorious B.I.G., whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was gunned down and killed. He was only 24 years old. Biggie Smalls, a renowned lyricist, was leaving an afterparty for the Soul Train Music Awards in Los Angeles when another motorist came up beside his car and opened fire, ultimately leading to his death. Biggie was shot four times. His death is still a mystery that has not been solved.

After only 16 days, Biggie presented the world with his sophomore album titled Life After Death. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and it was responsible for the release of multiple successful songs, including as “Hypnotize,” “Mo Money, Mo Problems,” and “Sky’s the Limit.” Since then, the album has been awarded 11 platinum certifications, and it has maintained its status as a true classic.

isthatporks take; Muhammad Ali once said “don’t count the days, make the days count”. So with that said when you impact people while you were alive or as Biggie’s classic album reads “Life After Death” you got a right to be a king, let alone someone who is remembered. His food years are still going up and he is not even here in the physical anymore. Now that’s Classic! R.I.P BIG !!!

50 Cent, Curtis. Jackson has signed a new contract, this time with the Houston Texans of the NFL. The football club established a multi-year partnership with Jackson’s Sire Spirits LLC and G-Unity Foundation earlier this month.

The Texans’ news release also states that the G-Unity Foundation will be the recipient of the 50/50 Jackpot. As a result of this collaboration, “children and youth in America’s cities will gain confidence, strength, and skills to win in life.”

Through this partnership, Sire Spirit’s Branson Cognac and Le Chemin du Roi Champagne will be the Official Cognac and Champagne of the AFC South division squad.

“We are thrilled to partner with Curtis and his team to offer Sire Spirits to our fans on gamedays,” he said. “We share a common goal of giving back to the city we call home, so bringing Curtis on board to present our 50/50 Jackpot on gamedays was a natural fit. We look forward to the great work we will do together through this partnership.”

More than that, Jackson explained the origins of the partnership and why the Houston Texans were the best choice.

“Last season, I had the opportunity to enjoy several home games, meet Texans fans, spend time with the McNair family and share with them some of the work I’ve been doing within the Houston community,” Jackson said. “When partnering with the team at this level arose, I was excited to do it.”

The Sacramento Kings are another professional sports team that signed Jackson.

The King’s official champagne sponsor will be Sire Spirits LLC, just like the Texans deal with him. At Kings home games, fans can enjoy Le Chemin du Roi and Branson Cognac courtside.

The late Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, the day that would have been his 37th birthday.

The venue for the ceremony was in front of Amoeba Music, located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard. On Monday morning, Hollywood Boulevard was closed between Gower Street and Argyle Avenue because of the massive number of people who had assembled for the event.

Sadly, on March 31, 2019, Nipsey was gunned down in front of his Marathon business in South Los Angeles. A man in his thirties was found guilty of murdering the rapper, who was 33, in July. On September 15, Eric Holder will be sentenced, and he faces the possibility of life in jail.

The ceremony included remarks from Nipsey’s sister Samantha Smith and his longterm partner, actress Lauren London. Nipsey’s family had Nipsey’s grandma, Margaret Boutte, accept the award on their behalf.

For as long as I can remember, everyone in Los Angeles has understood that Hussle was destined for greatness,” London declared. “This moment only amplifies this for us. Nip would’ve been honored by this moment

“I think he would want everyone to remember that you cant get to what’s possible unless you commit to moving forward. That doesn’t mean forgetting where you come from, but it requires acknowledging the reality you were born into and the power you have to change that reality for the better. So whenever you’re in the City of Angels and you see this star, I hope it encourages you to break away from whatever might be holding you back and for you to run your marathon until God says that it’s finished.”

Today, on the 37th anniversary of Nipsey’s birth, we will honor him with a celebration in his honor.

It was a melancholy ceremony, according to Smith.

“Proud is an understatement,” she said. “Nip the Great, look at who you are, look at what you did. I’m in awe but I’m not surprised. You’ve been a star in my eyes, the family’s eyes, God’s eyes, far before the accolades caught up. You’ve affected the lives of so many in the realist ways — the realist ways, the realist ways. You’ve been a pillar in our family, in the community.

“I’ve always been amazed and impressed at the example that you set. I feel so blessed and grateful to call you my brother.”

The family posed for photos with the celebrity and a photograph of Nipsey in a red track suit that was displayed nearby.

“He lives forever,” Boutte said. “And I look at his picture and remember all the wonderful times we had together. Nipsey, I love you, I miss you, but you’re close at heart always.”

Since the original 1,558 stars were installed in 1961, this star marks the 2,729th addition to the Walk of Fame.

Nipsey, real name Ermias Joseph Asghedom, was born on August 15, 1985 and rose from being a member of a gang in South Los Angeles to becoming a successful rap artist. He renovated basketball courts, gave the unemployed and homeless jobs, and bought shoes for the pupils.

Before his murder on March 31, 2019, Nipsey had remodeled a Mid-City roller rink and the South Los Angeles strip mall that housed his The Marathon Clothing store.

Thousands of mourners attended a memorial service for Nipsey in April 2019, where speakers included Stevie Wonder and Snoop Dogg.

Over the weekend, Lil Baby reportedly made money available for more than 3,000 kids, as reported by CBS News (46).

On Sunday afternoon, the rapper held his Back-to-School Fest in Atlanta’s West End Mall. All the while, kids and their families may obtain free haircuts and school supplies while also taking part in the carnival-style activities and listening to live music.

As part of a collaboration with the sports goods retailer Foot Locker, he also provided each kid in attendance with a pair of shoes and an article of apparel. In addition, the rapper worked with Goodr, a company that deals with waste management and hunger assistance, to set up a snack bar for students to use after school.

“We are grateful to Lil Baby for his continued resolution in giving back to his community,” Goodr CEO, Jasmine Crowe, said in a written statement.

“It is an honor to continually team up with such a household name to relieve some of the ongoing financial burden people are facing.”

Earlier this year, the rapper teamed up with Atlanta businessman Lemont Bradley to help provide 100 job chances to underprivileged youth in the city. Jobs are available at several of Bradley’s local businesses. There are openings for bartenders, waiters, and line cooks at Clutch Restaurant, Auto Spa Bistro, and Eco Car Spa.

If he sees a need, Lil Baby won’t be frugal with his money. The Atlanta rap group was allegedly caught on camera leaving a Foot Locker with bags full of sneakers last summer, as reported by BLACK ENTERPRISE. He planned to distribute the shoes he had bought to needy people in his neighborhood.
