Kanye West’s “White Lives Matter” shirt draws “PORK FIRE” from celebrities

At this year’s Paris Fashion Week, the French capital has been invaded by a who’s who of Hollywood and the fashion business. The event, which featured designers showing off daring new styles, began on September 26 and will conclude today (Oct. 4). In a shocking move, Kanye West debuted a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt during a Yeezy event.

Despite the fact that Ye has always been a controversial figure due to his outspoken nature, his most recent statement has sparked a firestorm of criticism. Boosie, a rapper from the same city of Baton Rouge as Kanye, tweeted, “[DAMN] @kanyewest [YOU] JUST GOING TO KEEP USING YOUR PLATFORM TO S**T ON YOUR OWN RACE LIKE THIS?” THIS IS SAD! AND the Black people who still support you are even sadder! LAST TIME SPEAKING ON THIS clown. #KanyeWestDoesntLikeBlackPeople DO US A FAVOR AND BLEACH YOUR SKIN ALL WHITE! Thanks.”

He then tweeted a snapshot of a whitened image of Kanye West.

If Boosie disapproved of Yeezy’s message, he wasn’t alone. On Twitter, Jaden Smith also expressed his beliefs, stating, “Black Lives Matter.” He said, “True leaders lead,” before adding that he doesn’t care who the messenger is if he doesn’t agree with the message.

“Attn. Kanye West followers [and] sympathizers: Anti-Blackness is NOT a symptom of bipolar disease,” wrote celebrity hairstylist Elgin Charles. As an answer to the question “Do white lives not matter?” Van Lathan, a former producer and presenter at TMZ, broke down for us why Ye’s message falls flat.

“We don’t need a reminder of the worth of white lives. America is a shrine to the worth of white people,” Lathan began. He added that “it ALWAYS has to be about white people in America.” Lathan and West have had discussions on the topic in the past, with the former TMZ producer trying to educate the rapper on what the movement is about.

On Instagram, Ye was called out by Vogue editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson for the statement on his shirt. She criticized his outfits on Story, writing that they were   
“deeply offensive, violent and dangerous.” West learned of her comments and responded with a statement of his own, essentially criticizing the publication’s Black editor. A white model named Gigi Hadid defended Karefa-Johnson, calling Yeezy a “bully and a joke” who wishes he “had a percentage of her intellect.”

Kanye looks like the story of the person who gained all the worldly treasures but lost his soul. We've all heard that story. The problem with that story is it always has a bad ending. Kanye's probably won't be any different. He's already getting backlash. His track record hasn't been a rosy one. There are some out there that have already done away with him. This stunt just added a little more. Then there are the ones on the fence waiting for him to make another stupid move so they can ban him forever. Kanye may think he has a billion reasons why however anyone feels about him doesn't matter. Not if the people he does business with have a say in it. Like companies who sponsor businesses, they may not want to sponsor Kanye anymore. Time will tell if they want to dance with the devil of this moment or do away with him altogether. In the meantime, this is a "FOOD YEARS DOWN and PORK AWARD for Kanye in our world. It should be in yours too. There is an infinite amount of reasons why this Atom, disguised by this act, delivered through Kanye, is wrong. If you don't think so, you're PORK too. OINK!
